Benicia Bucket Brigade Formed 151 years ago
In May 1847 the citizens of Benicia realized that the newly formed City needed to provide for an organized force of me to fight fires within the City. Thus, eight men formed the Benicia Bucket Brigade. This group of men would be the beginning of what is known today as the Benicia Volunteer Firemen, Inc. Today, this group has grown considerably and obviously includes women shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts.
