The Benicia Amateur Radio Club invites you to a Ham Radio Open House at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the main Fire Station on Military and West 2nd St on July 19th. The EOC's Ham Radio facility has been provided by the Benicia Fire Department for emergency communications in case of a local or regional disaster and the Amateur Radio station, which is staffed by volunteers, is intended to provide City and County governments with alternative communications should the need arise. Demonstrations of the Repeater Systems covering Benicia, Solano and Contra Costa counties plus national and worldwide links will be conducted all afternoon.

Information on how to get a Ham license will be available.

Additionally, licensed Ham Operators are invited to sit in on some "how to" sessions... Richard Chan WB6ABE will show repeater users how to remotely control the many features of the repeater; Art Mayoff will offer a short training class to members of the BERT Amateur Radio Auxiliary; and Kevin Ives of Solano OES will discuss and answer questions about the county's Emergency Services Response Team (ESRT) program, including free workers comp coverage during training, maintenance and call-ups.

Plan to be there. Refreshments will be provided.

For more information contact Richard Chan at (707) 745-8193
