WILL I HAVE TO ATTEND MONTHLY MEETINGS?

No. We anticipate one annual refresher meeting.

WHEN AND HOW OFTEN SHOULD EQUIPMENT AND PERSONNEL BE TESTED?

We have two requests of you in this regard.

Monthly, on the first Wednesday of each month at 11:00 AM local time, the City of Benicia conducts their citywide Siren Test and activates their Community Alert Notification System (CAN) on 1610 KHZ on the AM broadcast band along with cable channel 27's notification board. When you hear the sirens, we ask that you practice your skills and test your equipment by checking in on the Benicia repeater frequency of 442.750, PL 100 HZ for a five minute period. (We realize than many members are employed outside of Benicia and would not typically be home during the monthly Siren Test, but if you are within range of the wailing sirens with your rig or HT, please come up on the air for a few moments.)

Additionally we ask that you set aside a few minutes at least once a month to check in to the Monday evening Benicia Amateur Radio net in the interest of testing your equipment and possibly receiving announcements. The net meets weekly on Monday evenings at 7:30 PM local time on the WB6ABE repeater on 442.750 MHZ, PL 100 HZ. Access to this net is also available via 145.575 simplex and PL of 100 HZ is typically NOT needed on the 2m link during the net unless interference levels are high.

Activate and test your Amateur Radio equipment during the monthly Siren Tests at 11:00 AM local time on the first Wednesday of the month. Please check in on 442.750 MHZ (PL 100 Hz), when you hear the siren.
