The meeting was held at the Emergency Operations Center at Benicia Fire Station 11, commencing at 1906 hours. The list of attendees will be found at the end of these minutes. The following topics of discussion are in the order of the meeting agenda prepared by Chairman Bob Mutch.
Recognition
Bob Mutch presented a certificate to Jason the Dalmatian and his friend, Ruth, for their notable participation with BERT members in the Torchlight parade.
National Night Out Planning Lance Du Puis
Officer Patti Baron provided a written schedule of the neighborhood meetings for the evening of August 2. Meetings are scheduled to run from 1830 to 2030.
Volunteers who will participate will meet at the south parking lot at City Hall at 1815, Tuesday, Aug. 2.
September Farmers' Market Bob Mutch
A BCCC booth will be in place at the last Farmers' Market event on Thursday, Sept. 29. All displays are available for use.
Roundtable
Art Mayoff reported that the last Praise in the Park event for the summer will be Sunday, Aug. 14. One potential BERT member was recruited at the last event.
Chief Hanley reported that the next BERT class is hoped to occur this coming fall.
Ron Uhlman reported that he was still working on the Medical Reserve Corps. Bob Mutch suggested he will attempt to address the problem of participants needing to keep their credentials current through the political process.
Marion McKown reported that all of the goals set for the BERT Support Group for this year have been met. She noted that management zone team meetings have been difficult to achieve. Bob Mutch suggests that direct phone contact be made in addition to email to improve member awareness. Art Mayoff proposed that team captain roles be rotated among the team members at the annual muster. Toward improving communication with team members, Art suggests the use of Yahoo Groups. He will get email addresses from Jean Colomy. Marion suggested a customized BERT training course for senior citizens living at a local facility.
Art Mayoff reported that he, with Kevin Ives and several Benicia ACS members briefed the Vallejo Ham radio Club on ACS.
Future BCCC Meetings Bob Mutch
Henceforth, BCCC meetings will be on the fourth Thursday evening of every other month on the odd-numbered months, starting at 1900 in Fire Station 11. The next meeting will be Sept. 22.
