The meeting was held at the Emergency Operations Center at Benicia Fire Station 11, commencing at 1540 hours. The list of attendees will be found at the end of these minutes. The following topics of discussion are in the order of the meeting agenda prepared by Chairman Bob Mutch.
BERT Support Group Update. Marion McKown
The April 7, 2005 meeting had a good turnout.
April 30, 2005 has been set as the deadline for cache deployment.
Letters will be sent out next week to all members concerning the April 30, 2005 drill, including member lists and staging area locations.
More than one muster and city-wide drill per year have been determined to not be feasible.
April 30 Drill Update. Chief Hanley
Plans for the drill are on track.
The Fire Department will issue a press release concerning the drill plans.
Art Mayoff expects full participation by ACS/RACES in the drill.
A general debrief for all drill participants is not planned.
Medical Reserve Corps Formation. Ron Uhlman
Ron Uhlman was informed of nine medical practitioners in the community with the likelihood of even more, who could be available for service in the Medical Reserve Corps. Ron will communicate with the individual from BERT class #9 who reported the nine medical personnel to determine their availability and limitations.
Ron expects a need to establish policy concerning assignment of medical personnel in BERT teams v. the Medical Reserve Corps.
Ron expressed concerns over medical personnel considered for Medical Reserve Corps service as to their currency in credentialing, licensing, etc., and their attendant limitations.
ACS/RACES. Art Mayoff
Benicia ACS members will observe the radio exercise next Saturday in Rio Vista.
An estimate of $910 has been received for the carpentry required for the modification to the EOC radio room to accommodate a second radio operating position.
The ACS antenna on the hill degrades 25-35% during periods of rain. This will be evaluated for possible remediation measures.
Three more people have applied for membership in ACS.
There is much member interest in the National Radio Drill on
June 25, 2005. The drill will begin at 0800 Saturday, and run
for 24 hours. Local members will operate at the Benicia Fire Museum
from 1100, Saturday through 1100, Sunday.
The County MC-2 has been offered for use in the drill and might
be located in the Southampton Shopping Center for recruitment
on Saturday, June 25, 2005. Officer Patti Baron will coordinate
arrangements for locating MC-2 there.
Farmers Market Booth. Bob Mutch
Bob will coordinate operating a BCCC booth at the Farmers market on opening day, Thursday, Apr. 28, 2005, as well as once per month in May, July and Sept., 2005. Hours of operation will be from 1600 to 2000.
Art Mayoff will handle staffing the booth with volunteers from ACS, VIPS and VFD; Marion McKown for BERT; and Lance DuPuis for Neighborhood Watch.
Praise in the Park. Bob Mutch
Bob reported that this event is scheduled to have a BCCC booth on June 12, July 13 and Aug. 14, from noon to 1600. Art Mayoff will coordinate staffing with volunteers.
July 3 Parade. Bob Mutch
BERT will participate in the parade, passing out flyers or recruitment cards. Bob will draft material for review at next month's meeting.
