 WHEN ARE THE BERT COURSES HELD?

Courses are generally held two, three or four times a year, depending on available teaching manpower during the months of September through May. Classes are never held during summer fire season, June through August. Specific dates will be provided to registered applicants well in advance of the commencement of classes.

HOW MANY CLASSES IN THE COURSE?

The course consists of a total of six classes - five evening and one daytime class. Evening classes are held from 6:30 PM to approximately 9:00 PM. Some classes might run till 9:30. Evening classes are usually held on Tuesdays. Specific scheduling will be indicated in your acceptance letter. The daytime class is a simulated disaster scenario which consists of hands-on training and is held on the final Saturday from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM. (See photos of a Saturday session.) A free authentic Firehouse lunch will be provided.

HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE ENROLLED IN EACH CLASS?

Generally, due to space limitations, enrollment is limited to approximately 30 students per class.

WHERE ARE THE BERT CLASSES HELD?

Evening classes are held at the main Benicia Fire Station on West Military and the Saturday hands-on class is held at the Benicia Fire Museum, 900 East Second St,  Benicia.
